A MAN has been charged over an alleged assault on a high-level Ethiopian government delegation in Hobart.
Police allege a young man punched one of the party on the chin outside Wrest Point Casino on Friday.
The man of Ethiopian heritage was part of a political protest outside the casino where the delegation was staying.
Detective Inspector Ian Whish-Wilson said the protest related to internal Ethiopian politics.
He said the man had been charged with common assault.
Police intervened in the scuffle and escorted the delegation to Hobart Airport.
