Al Shabaab ambushes TPLF troops’ convoy in Somalia

Heavily armed fighters from Al Shabaab have carried out an ambush attack on military convoy belonging to Ethiopian troops serving with African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).

The attack happened as AMISOM convoy were passing in an area, 20Km away from Elbur town, with Al Shabaab claiming to have inflicted heavy losses on the AU peacekeepers in the firefight.

Ethiopian forces have repulsed the Al Shabaab attack, and fended off the fighters who shot AK-47 riffle bullets on the convoy, according to Abdi Mohamed Hassan who is Elbur district commissioner.

African Union Mission in Somalia did not comment on ambush attack that Al-shabaab claimed to have incurred casualties against AMISOM soldiers.
