ESAT, Vision Ethiopia call for papers on Ethio-Eritrean Relations

Press Release

The Ethiopian Satellite Television and Radio (ESAT) Service, in collaboration with Vision Ethiopia (a group composed of Ethiopian academics, researchers, and pro-democracy advocates), is pleased to convene a timely one-day seminar on “Ethio-Eritrean Relation: Current State and Prospect” in the Metropolitan Washington D.C. area.

The purpose of the conference is to create a forum for scholars and pro-democracy advocates from the Ethiopian and Eritrean Diaspora and friends of Ethiopia to discuss the current political challenges Ethiopia faces and the solutions needed for the country to enjoy lasting peace, stability, democracy, and economic prosperity.

The conference has two main objectives. They are: (1) understanding the current political situation in Ethiopia and devising strategies to bring an enduring political change in the country; and (2) creating a consensus around the means and methods of struggle that the Ethiopian democratic forces may have to follow. All views and positions are welcome.

The area of focus to achieve these two objectives include, but not limited to, the relationship between Ethiopian political organizations and the Government of Eritrea, feasibility of armed struggle against the regime in Ethiopia staging from Eritrea, and the necessary conditions for Ethiopians to support Ethiopian political organizations using Eritrea as a rear and staging ground.

The place and the date of the conference will soon be determined. Please, send an abstract of your paper to visionethiopia@googlegroups by September 15, 2015.
